Every day when I pick up the mic I ask myself the same question…
“How can I make this a game fun for the fan who could care less about the actual game being played?”
Working with Harvard Athletics was one of those experiences that feels both surreal and completely right, like stepping into a role I didn’t even know I had been preparing for.
As part of the Fan Experience team, I serve as an in-game host for football and men’s and women’s basketball, bringing energy, connection, and excitement to every game. It is my job to keep the crowd engaged, deliver promotions, hype up the fans, and help create the kind of atmosphere that makes college sports unforgettable.
What people don’t always see is the work that goes into making game day feel effortless. In this role I learn how to:
- Think fast on the mic
- Adjust to last-minute changes
- Read a crowd’s energy
- Communicate with production teams
- Manage timing down to the second
This role pushes me to be louder, bolder, and more precise. It teaches me how to lead a stadium, how to craft a moment, and how to help create an environment where fans feel connected to the game and each other.
Returning to My Roots
What I didn’t expect was how much this job would take me back to my Chili Peppers days, standing on top of the dugout, mic in hand, trying to make every fan feel like they were the reason that night mattered. Harvard brought that feeling back instantly. It reminded me that my favorite part of working in sports has always been the same:
making someone’s day a little brighter, a little more exciting, and a lot more memorable.
That spark, the joy of creating moments for fans.
